Into the Masai Mara

Kenya is a country of contrasts. After driving through Kibera Informal Settlement, or slum, yesterday, then traveling the roughest road imaginable to visit our beautiful new family of friends in Namuncha, we find ourselves on hiatus today at the Serena Lodge overlooking the Masai Mara.

No matter what their station in life or personal wealth, we have found Kenyans to be fiercely proud of their country and its natural beauty. Today, we had our first real opportunity to enjoy the spectacular scenery and animals of Kenya.

On a day when world events have saddened us all, we will share the peacefulness of this lioness relaxing in the sun in a small attempt to bring some light into a crazy world.
