First Days in Kenya 2023

The 2023 TA travellers have safely arrived in Kenya. It was a big relief that all bags  passed the weight test. All our flights were on time, flights were long but manageable. Our arrival in Nairobi was on time. We passed through all the entry points and moved on to collect our luggage. Full stop. One bag missing. It was in Paris. 2 days later Jeannine is still waiting for it to be delivered. 

It felt wonderful for the returning travelers to be back in Kenya. Our new traveler Mariella was trying to take it all in. Seeing our friends, Lois Shaw, Faraj and Flora made the long trip all worth-well. 

Tuesday we settled into Kijiji House. (It is now called a resort) We organized the supplies, hygiene kits, clothing and school supplies. That evening we enjoyed a beautiful dinner hosted by our friends Kamal and Margaret in their home. Our friends David Wakogi, Flora and Faraj also joined us. it was our first opportunity for an update about Compass School. We left that evening feeling hopeful. More meetings to follow. 

 

Wednesday was a day of fun, enjoying the elephants at the Sheldrick Elephant Orphanage and the giraffes at the Giraffe Park. Even for the returnees, one does not tire of seeing these beautiful animals up close.
